Abstract Masks

Koken Mask
With Cloth Headress

Similar to the Bunraku style of Japanese puppetry, where the puppeteers are fully visible to the audience but dressed in black to “disappear’ from view, this presentation required a little more visibility and interaction with the main character in the play. The neutral mask was painted grey and enhanced with a black see-through cloth to create a mask character with a deep silent presence that underscored the storyteller and the drama.
